Geocoding and Data Improvement Workshop
Course Description:
The class will introduce basic concepts and processes of data
improvement, address geocoding and illustrate how positional error caused by
geocoding may affect the results of a GIS project. Particular attention will
be given to the long term effects (i.e. cost savings) of data and attribute improvement.
In addition, attendees will learn about current CSCIC programs and available
resources to facilitate data improvement and geocoding. This course is designed
for GIS users and technicians interested in the geocoding and data improvement
processes, as well as those involved in data improvement and maintenance. Highlights
of the class include technical geocoding demonstrations using the new Accident
Location Information System (ALIS) road centerline file pre-release version.
A free DVD of this workshop is available upon request to the NYS Office of Cyber Security & Critical Infrastructure Coordination.
