These files contain 2016 digital Selective True Ortho-imagery of Bronx County,
New York. Image pixel size is 6" GSD. Image type is 4-band, RGB & NIR. Image horizontal accuracy is within 2' at the 95% confidence level (NSSDA). Each file contains an image covering 2500 ft. by 2500 ft. on the ground.
Purpose:
This digital Selective True Ortho-imagery can serve a variety of purposes, from general planning to field reference for spatial analysis to a tool for revision of vector maps. It can also serve as a reference layer for GIS.

This dataset contains selective true orthoimagery of Bronx County, New York as part of the contract to provide new natural color digital aerial imagery with airborne GPS-IMU control and ground surveyed control to develop and support 4 band (RGBIR) 8 bit 6 inch pixel resolution for selective areas within the New York City's five bouroughs. Imagery acquisition and flight lines were planned and acquired for the NYC STO area based upon the project specifications of selective true orthos using a diagonal orientation with a forward overlap of 80 percent and a flight line sidelap of 60 percent. The area was planned and flown with Keystone's Aerial Survey's Ultracam Falcon Prime digital mapping camera UCFP-50616147 equipped with flight navigation systems and airborne GPS and inertial measurement units flown at an approximate altitude of 8200' above mean ground elevation. An average image footprint of 17310' x 11310' size image was captured; thereby capturing an average image footprint of 8655' wide by 5655' inline for a six inch pixel resolution. A total of 114 flight lines and 8156 exposures were captured for the NYC STO area region. Imagery was captured between March 26th and April 5th, 2016, with a sun angle exceeding 30 degrees. For the Aerotriangulation Automatic Point Measurement (APM)was run on the images to measure terrain points to tie the images together. The imagery was then used in the AT process in UltraMap where tie point measurement was performed and independent ground control points and airborne GPS were introduced to further refine the data. Final EO data was derived using BINGO AT software using the Microsoft UltraMap mapping platform. The UltraMap Ortho module produced a Digital Surface Model (DSM) at a .5' resolution of the entire NYC STO area. The DSM data was then applied in the orthorectification process to produce 4-band RGB-IR digital orthoimages free of distortion and lean on the selective true buildings. All orthorectified images were reviewed for consistency with project requirements before the mosaicking and tiling process. Bridge distortions and other errors were corrected at this stage. As part of the mosaicking and tiling process in UltraMap, all images were adjusted for color and radiometric differences for the entire image dataset. The individual tiles produced were then inspected in a final QA/QC process for overall image quality with all undesirable artifacts and errors corrected before delivery. The end product for Bronx County was 262 seamless 8-bit 4-band RGB-IR image tiles, 2500 by 2500 feet wide in GeoTIFF/TFW format. Imagery was also delivered in JP2/J2W format at a 10:1 compression ratio with ESRI AUX and MapInfo TAB files.
