Potential Environmental Justice Areas This is a KML/KMZ file that shows polygon locations of Potential Environmental Justice Areas. This data format can be used with a free virtual globe program, like Google Earth or ESRI's ArcGIS Explorer. Potential Environmental Justice Areas have been identified based on data from the 2000 U.S. Census. This file is derived from data originally in shapefile format. Environmental justice efforts focus on improving the environment in communities, specifically minority and low-income communities, and addressing disproportionate adverse environmental impacts that may exist in those communities. The information balloon for each census block group area displays the census block group ID, population, percent minority, percent below poverty level, county, municipality, and a link to more information on the Department of Environmental Conservation's website.  Land Use/Land Cover
