NYS Streets & Address Points Data Maintenance
NYS Address Points and NYS Streets are updated in partnership with State, county and local governments. Some data maintenance partners use our free web-based data editing application, GeoLynx, to update the NYS Address Points and submit NYS Streets changes. State, county or local governments can edit the live NYS Address Points data and request changes within the NYS Streets data; the only requirement for the tool is internet access. The SAM team makes Street updates on behalf of the counties and performs daily QA/QC on all Street and Address Point edits. Some counties chose to edit data locally and provide updates on a scheduled basis to the SAM Program. The SAM team incorporates those updates within the NYS Address Points and NYS Streets data for all State, county and local governments.
Every night the NYS Address Points and NYS Streets data are processed to incorporate all updates made in GeoLynx and updates the SAM team makes on behalf of the counties. The statewide NYS Streets are processed and posted to the portal every night, provided in both GDB and shapefile format. The NYS Address Points are so large that we do not post a statewide file on the portal, but we do post county cuts of the Address Points every night in both GDB and shapefile format. Lastly, the NYS Streets are exported by county every Sunday and posted to the portal in both GDB and shapefile format. Even if counties are not using GeoLynx for data maintenance, a GeoLynx portal-only account can be provided to allow access to the most up to date data.
