Abstract:: An index for statewide coverage of all 968 NYS 7.5 minute Quadrangles which shows the outline of each quadrangle. The index is used to identify and select NYS quadrangles using reference codes or quadrangle names. The index can be used to zoom to selected NYS quadrangles.
Purpose:: A GIS layer representing an index for New York State used to identify and select individual NYS 7.5 minute Quadrangles.
Supplemental_Information:: 1:24,000 scale. Zone 18 of the UTM grid/projection system (Zone 18 is extended to cover New York State entirely in a single grid zone).

Process_Description:: Quadrangle outlines, from the National Geodetic Survey (NGS), were created in CADD using UTM Zone 18 quadrangle corner locations rounded to 0.1 meter. The CADD file was converted to a GIS file as of process date. Quadrangle polygons were manually adjusted for quadrangles whose extent exceeded the 7.5 minute quadrangle neatlines. Features were attributed using NYS's Quadrangle Database (2004).
