Information on State and Federal Hydrography Datasets
NYS Hydrography Dataset (NYSHD)
NYS ITS Geospatial Services is updating a statewide hydrography dataset. The NYSHD is built upon the framework set in the now retired USGS National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). We will continue to update the NYSHD until we have statewide coverage of the USGS 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP).
The USGS 3DHP data will be derived from elevation-derived hydrography. 3DHP comprises a national network of flowlines, hydro locations, and water bodies and will include catchments, drainage areas, and flow network derivatives as they are populated in the future.
